Thakar Basati


Community activist, a founding member of Partners for Our Community (POC), Founding President of Punjabi Cultural Society Chicago (PCS). Served on many not-for-profit organizations locally and Internationally. Involved with Senior citizen activities, Interfaith and Asian American Coalition of Chicago.

About Thakar

Thakar S. Basati has lived in Palatine since 1991, and was a Palatine business owner for six years before that.  Two of Thakar's children attended public schools in Palatine.  Even before he retired after 30 years in the field of hospital patient care, he was active in local and international non-profits.  He was a founding member of Partners for Our Community, and was the founding President of the Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago.  He has spent 20 years coordinating activities for seniors and involved in interfaith organizations, and is currently a member of the Asian American Coalition of Chicago.

Thakar holds a Realtor license and is a director in Legal Shield.  If elected, he will be the first South Asian American Trustee in Palatine Township.

Thakar's goals are to make Palatine Township more transparent and more involved in the diverse communities.  He believes the township should be reaching out to every segment of the township society, and should be showing more passion for residents during emergency situations.
